We were part of the founding team at LikeList, an internet startup that combines the best features of Yelp, Google and Facebook in allowing people to create and share lists of their favorite local businesses

Challenge
While LikeList was built by combining several of the most powerful innovations the internet has enabled, telling that story was complicated and not quickly appreciated by most people. The key benefits offered by LikeList included greater personal relevance for results, more trustworthy recommendations, and speed in getting connected to the best local business for you.

Solution
We developed a differentiated positioning that clearly separated LikeList from it’s potential competitors and crafted a marketing story that simplified a complex proposition of “local trust” -- accessible wherever you were.

The identity created emphasized the connection between two people, but subliminally conveyed that one was a consumer and the other a business owner. The graphic elements designed balanced a functional style with a touch of fun with an orange, green and blue color palette which was used consistently throughout the website and all marketing materials to appeal to both consumers and business owners.

Because social behaviors drove the LikeList engine, social media and word-of-mouth marketing were key to LikeList’s marketing strategy. Programs were developed to capitalize on Facebook’s popularity, Twitter’s active users and word-of-mouth in targeted  communities where it has been embraced by business and community organizations.
